The Silo

One of the great challenges for the cities of the future is transforming existing buildings for new purposes. With The Silo in Copenhagen’s Nordhavn, Cobe has transformed a striking former grain silo into modern apartments - bringing the harbor’s industrial history into the new urban district.

In this richly illustrated book, author Kristoffer Lindhardt Weiss takes a close look at the project and places Cobe’s work within a broader architectural and historical context. He also discusses the ideas behind the design in an interview with Cobe’s founder Dan Stubbergaard.

The book is the second volume in a series on contemporary Danish architecture. Across ten volumes, the series offers a vital portrait of the latest developments in Danish architecture. Each volume explores a single building, portraying the practice behind it.
