Through seventeen reflections on transformation projects, In Transformation explores Cobe's two decades of working symbiotically with the existing architectural fabric. It examines the thinking behind keeping and renewing – and the dilemmas that arise when choosing to preserve the built environment rather than replacing it with something new.
Spanning scales and typologies, from large masterplans and urban regeneration to small, fine-grained interventions, each project has its own story and its own relationship with what was already there. Together, they form a nuanced portrait of an undogmatic approach to transformation: one that balances history with relevance, and heritage with the needs of today and tomorrow.
